The curse!

At Tides we have a rule, NEVER...EVER... utter the word "quiet" in reference to your day. If you say, "it's been a quiet day," then you are just asking for the phone to start ringing, crises to erupt and the whole day to go crazy.

Well a while back I had a war going with a coworker, Schmitty as we call him, wishing each other a "quiet day," a "quiet night," or even so far as a "quiet week!" And we both managed to curse each other with it! Well our battle had been put to rest for a while... until tonight, when everything had been particularly... well... quiet for a while in the office. So on his way out, Schmitty pops his head in and says "Hey Beth, have a quiet night!" AHHHHH!!! As I explained to a new employee, I am not a superstitious person, but this curse is proven fact! And my night tracking tonight was proof positive. Below I have listed just a few highlights from the night!

  • Mediated argument between client & guardian, including raising voice, something I rarely do with my kids...
  • Walked in on a client and his girlfriend in bed...
  • Found AWOL client and had to practically drag her back home...
  • Made a CANTS call (child abuse/neglect hotline, unfortunately, part of the territory)
  • Found a client high, and he admitted to it...
  • Had a Dad try to back me up on a point, through his slurred drunken words...
  • Found out some client's got robbed by a friend of mom's...

Oh it was an interesting night...

So when I got home, I texted Schmitty so that he would know what he had done to me! He's now taking Casey and I to grab a drink to apologize- at least some good came out of the curse!
