What a threat!
The other night my supervisor and I had a meeting at the house of one of my clients' with his parents regarding his progress, his goals, how they think he's doing and so forth. Now my supervisor meets with this kid once a week at his school, but as with most of my kids, I see him MUCH more frequently: I take him to school a couple of times a week, I talk to his academic support teacher, he often rides with me while I track, comes on rec with me and calls to check-in. I should also note that he is doing VERY well these days, especially considering where he's been. But I wanted to share what I considered a highlight of the meeting....
His mom was talking about a mentor that he used to have, back when things weren't so good, and how when he was acting up she used to say that if he didn't shape up she would call this mentor because that person could usually get him back on track. Then she went on to say that "now I just tell him I'm gonna call Beth." At which point his stepdad piped in to say that my kid had told him that he has to do what he's supposed to or else he knows he'll get a big lecture from me. At which point we all started laughing over the fact that as much as he knows I'm going to get on him when he's not doing what he's supposed to, he keeps calling me to come hang out.
So to all the kids out there, watch out, do what you're supposed to, or someone's gonna call Beth.
